Learning & Development Professional

Jennay R. Barkley, M.Ed

I'm a Learning & Development Specialist with over 7 years of experience designing training solutions that make complex information clear and accessible. I specialize in bridging the gap between subject matter experts, instructional design, and the people who actually need to learn — translating what organizations know into what employees can use. I'm known for being organized, efficient, and easy to work with across teams.

Employment Intake Form

This employer intake form was developed during my time at We Can Code IT to assess hiring needs before matching employers with our bootcamp graduates. Before any candidate was placed, I gathered information from hiring managers about technical requirements, team culture, and what success looked like in the role. The process mirrors a training needs assessment: identifying stakeholder needs, surfacing assumptions, and defining outcomes before building a solution. The context is different; the thinking is the same.

Presentation Readiness Worksheet

This worksheet was developed at the American Gem Society to support our Director of Learning in preparing to present one of the most controversial topics to hit the jewelry industry, the introduction of lab grown diamonds. Before a single slide was finalized, we surveyed the team, researched circulating opinions, and built talking points designed to meet a skeptical audience with confidence and empathy. The result was a presenter who walked in prepared, not just informed. Getting someone ready to deliver tough information well is something I genuinely enjoy and this tool is how I approach that work.

Freedom Delayed: A Juneteenth Celebration

This presentation was created for Pathrise's company-wide Juneteenth celebration in 2023 as part of the Black at Pathrise ERG. I designed the deck to do more than share history. The goal was to create a moment where every person in the room, regardless of their background, could find a personal connection to the story of freedom, persistence, and recognition. The reflection prompt at the center of the presentation was intentional — good learning does not just inform, it moves people. Note: this is a high level snapshot of the full presentation. The original deck included additional historical context and interactive elements not captured here.

Early Learner Retention: A Program Design Proposal

This proposal was developed and presented to leadership from a Program Success Manager perspective as part of an ongoing effort to close the early retention gap among learners. The ideas put forward aligned with an internal initiative I was contributing to called the Red Carpet Engagement Project. The work behind this deck reflects how I approach any learning problem: start with the data, ground the solution in learning theory, anticipate barriers, and build toward something measurable and scalable.
